-Animal species becoming extinct was what led Congress to passing the ESA (Endangered Species Act). These plants and animals are in danger of becoming wiped off the earth, which was the main reason Congress passed this act. -The purpose of the ESA is to protect and help recover imperiled species and their ecosystems that they need to survive. The job of the ESA is to prevent extinction of species, by providing a program for the conservation of threatened plants and animals, along with a law that prohibits actions including the taking of any listed endangered animals. - The amendments made for the ESA in 1978, permitted federal agencies to take any actions that may harm or cause an endangered species to be in jeopardy only if allowed by federal committee.

- The passing of the ESA has improved the Florida Panther population by what is being done to protect its species. People are not allowed to do harm to its species without federal consent. Associations like TNC are also contributing to saving Florida Panthers by establishing connections to lands of different habitat types from native lands to working lands. - Florida Panthers are threatened by car accidents and collisions, to prevent this, government should lower speed limits in these areas. Having a lower speed limit in Florida Panther areas can reduce car accidents and save the lives of the Florida Panther population. -Landowners can mitigate habitat loss each time they require an incidental take permit by purchasing land and putting it in protection for the panther. They can also implement a larger-scale Habitat Conservation Plan, or purchase credits from a Habitat Conservation Bank.
